Dr Peter Barclay
Dr Peter Barclay grew up in Sydney’s North Shore, sitting his HSC at Barker College in Hornsby. His undergraduate degree was a Bachelor of Nursing at Sydney University, after which he proceeded to postgraduate medicine, graduating in 2000.
Dr Barclay practiced as a Junior doctor at Gosford & Wyong Hospital, with secondments to Taree Base Hospital, and subsequently at Royal North Shore Hospital with secondments to Manly and Ryde Hospitals. Peter and his wife took a break from their medical training in 2002. During this time, they spent 3 months as volunteer doctors in a small rural hospital call Rumginae, in the Western Province of Papua New Guinea, and they found this to be a very worthwhile experience. Following this, Dr Barclay spent 3 years on the training program of the Royal Australia College of General Practitioners. During this time he worked in various general practices in the Sutherland Shire, and rural general practice in Dubbo.
Dr Barclay passed the RACGP exam in 2006, and qualified for Fellowship of the RACGP in 2007. He thoroughly enjoys all aspects of general practice, in particular interests include musculoskeletal conditions, paediatrics, obstetrics & gynaecology, removal of skin lesions and geriatric medicine. Peter & his wife have 3 children, as a family they regularly attend an Anglican Church, and their favourite pastimes are going to the beach and bushwalking.
